Zusammenfassung:The use of a discrete sacrificial anode 4, backfill 3, tape 5 and an adhesive, to protect steel 8 in concrete 2 is described. The backfill 3 is preferably placed in a shallow cavity in the concrete surface 2 and the sacrificial anode 4 is inserted into the backfill 3. The cavity is covered with a tape 5 that extends over the adjacent concrete surfaces on opposite sides of the sacrificial anode 4 and backfill 3 and the tape 5 is attached to the concrete surface 2 with the adhesive. The tape 5 and the adhesive holds the anode 4 in place and prevents a weathering environment from damaging the backfill 3. A temporary impressed current may also be passed through the steel 8 via a titanium wire 9. A water repellent primer may also be used in conjunction with the adhesive.
