Zusammenfassung:A horizontal hinged door assembly 10 such as a cellar door comprises a door 14, a frame 20 surrounding the door 14, a hinging mechanism 24a,24b,26a,26b between the door 14 and frame 20, and a resilient gasket 22. The door 14 fits flush in the frame 20, and there is a gap 39 surrounding the door 14 in the frame 20. The frame 20 is comprised of elongate channel-shaped frame members. Each frame member comprises an outer wall 15, an inner wall 16 and a base component 19 which define a channel space 21. The outer wall 15 has a recess 18 on its inner side to receive the resilient gasket 22. The recess 18 may be positioned on a transverse inwardly extending flange 17. The resilient gasket 22 has a leg portion 29 which is inserted into the opening 18 in the frame 20 to secure the gasket 22 in place. Extending from the leg portion 29 is a body portion 31 which extends across the gap 39. The body portion 31 may be bent downward. When the door 14 is in a closed position the gasket body portion 31 is bent downward by contact with the lower side of the door 14. In the closed position, the door 14 may rest upon the inner walls 16 of the frame members which may be shorter than the outer walls 15. The gasket 22 may be inserted into the frame 20 during fabrication of the door assembly 10 or during on-site installation of the door assembly 10.
