Zusammenfassung:8835. Becker, W. H. April 15. Capping.-The backs of the sliding wedges A, by which a wire rope C is held in a tapered socket B, are reduced in area by the provision of channels or cavities such as D. The channels or cavities serve for the retention of lubricant or antifriction metal so as further to reduce the resistance between the parts A and B. The inside of the socket may be channelled as well as, or in place of, the backs of the wedges. The end of the rope is provided with a hollow truncated cone or pyramid E, and to facilitate the entry of the jagged expanded end of the rope, the aperture F is made much larger than the rope and, after the insertion of the latter, is closed by a split bush G, the whole being secured by running in white metal. A channel or groove may be provided in the bush.
