[Addition to 18,269/08.] Ebonite; vulcanizing.-Ebonite capable of resisting the action of chlorine and alkalies, as described in the parent Specification, is now made by adding sufficient sulphur to indiarubber to produce a body of the formula C10H16S2, and then adding, instead of graphite, from 5-15 per cent of a substance chemically indifferent to chlorine, acids, and alkalies, such as finely divided mica, finely divided carbon, or a mixture of mica and graphite, and overvulcanizing as described in the parent Specification. |
