Flat endless-belt conveyers; driving-gear; discharging - devices.-In an excavating - machine, a conveyer comprises an inclined endless band passing over end drums frictionally held on spindles to which are keyed sprocket-wheels. Driving-chains passing over these wheels are connected to the band by two transverse bars. Supporting-rollers are provided for the upper side of the band, and to ensure that this side of the band shall remain slack the lower drum is of larger diameter than the chain-wheels on the same spindle. A swing- ing metal plate may be supported from the delivery end of the conveyer to receive material delivered while the trucks are being changed.
