Zusammenfassung: | 6519. Birkin, A. C. March 17. Tyres, pneumatic; felloes or rims.-A pneumatic tyre is protected by being enclosed within a channel rim secured to the felloe of the wheel, and an outer inverted channel rim capable of sliding within the inner one. In the form shown in Fig. 2, a single-tube tyre e bears against the felloe a and shoulders s formed on the inner rim d, and against the inside of the inverted rim f, but is clear of the side flanges of the rims. Preferably, a solid rubber tread g is fitted in a smaller rim n formed on, or bolted to the rim f. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the outer cover k of the pneumatic tyre is bolted to a ring l and to the opposite flange of the rim d. Dirt-excluding packing may be inserted in a recess o at each side. If the pneumatic tube be deflated, the inner edges of the rim f bear against shoulders formed on the inside of the rim d, and, to ensure a driving contact between these surfaces, they may be formed with teeth p. |
