Improved Speed Indicator with Centrifugal Governors

15,314. Aumund, J. July 12. Speed indicators.-The apparatus, which is of the centrifugal type, is shown on the right of the central line at rest and on the left in motion. The shaft a carries a plate a' on which are four racks b, b, b facing inwards gearing with. four wheels c, c to which the weighted frames e, e are secured. The four wheels c gear also with a four-sided rack d, which can move vertically against the action of a spring k, and they are cone-geared together. When the shaft a revolves the frames e fly out, and the wheels c run up the racks b and lift the rack d, an extension d of which operates the lever l of the index mechanism. The extension is guided by four cone-geared wheels i, i engaging grooves g , g which act as racks.
