Rotary punching machines.- Apparatus for recessing rubber &c. to a given depth comprises a tubular cutter a, having adjustably secured thereon a depth setter f, and having located therein a spring lifted recessing-cutter c carrying a pin d slidable in a slot b in the tubular cutter. This pin acts as a stop and as a guide, and transmits the rotary movement to the tubular cutter; material removed by the internal cutter passes out through an opening l. The depth setter f may be integral with the tubular cutter, the lower portion of this being adjustable in the setter; the setter may have a ball bearing on its under face when a metal jig is employed. The cutter may be driven by hand or by power.
