description 130,639. Kitchen, J. G. A., Fraser, G. H., and O'Hanlon, J. R. Feb. 27, 1918. Rudders.-In rudders a, b constructed and arranged as described in Specification 3249/14, a tiller-bar i is used which, when turned as usual in the horizontal plane, moves the rudders through equal angles in the same circular direction, but, when moved in the vertical plane, causes the rudders to be moved awav from or towards one another. The spindle c and sleeve d to which the rudders a, b are attached respectively have arms connected by adjustable links g, h to a bellcrank i having a spring plunger &c. adapted to engage the notched quadrant n. A bracket p which carries the bell-crank and quadrant turns on the sleeve d and is held in position by the fixture o. With control gear of this kind, it is possible to steer the vessel when going ahead, to vary its speed, to stop or reverse it, and to steer it when going astern.
