description | 1,261,720. Projector for both regular and super 8 film. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Dec. 20, 1968 [Dec.26, 1967(2)], No.60667/68. Heading G2E. A projector is adapted for showing films of the same width but with different frame size and proportions e. g. regular and super 8 films, by the provision of a laterally moveable film gate which positions the film for engagement by the film feeding means simultaneously with a change in the projection aperture on manual operation of a lever. The optical axis of the system passes through an aperture 16 in a pull-down mechanism 14 having claws 13 spaced apart by a distance equal to 9 perforations in the regular 8 film and 8 perforations in the super 8. The claws 13 pass through slots in mounting plate 11 and adjustable framing plate F before passing through slots 55 in the film gate G. An operating lever L is slidably attached between the frame plate F and the gate G so that on movement vertically a projecting pin 53 engaged in a diagonal slot 54 in the gate G moves the gate horizontally to position the film perforations correctly in relation to the claws 13. Simultaneously a notch 51 in member 41 of the lever L in which a U-shaped spring arm 52 on an aperture mask A having apertures 33 and 34 is engaged, rotates the mask A about pivot 31 to position the appropriate aperture in the beam. In a second embodiment Fig. 5 (not shown) the apertures are vertically disposed in the guide G which may be displaced both horizontally and vertically by a lever rigidly attached to it and the apertive mask A is dispensed with. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,165,952. |
