Zusammenfassung: | 118,667. Nicoresti, C. A. Cofman-. Sept. 3, 1917, Disinfectants and antiseptics.-Cresol and mixtures of cresol and formaldehyde are solidified by the addition of sodium stearate or animal soap and cast into tablets to be dissolved in water or alcohol for disinfecting and medicinal purposes. Crude or refined cresol is incorporated with about 10 per cent of its weight of stearate by heating to boiling-point, with or without the application of pressure. The mixture of cresol and formaldehyde to be similarly solidified may be prepared by the addition of formalin solution to the cresol, or by submitting the cresol to a current of. formaldehyde gas until it has absorbed a tenth of its weight. Colouring and perfuming ingredients, such as oil of roses, may be added. According to the Provisional Specification, fatty acid and alkali may be added to separate portions of the cresol, to be afterwards mixed and heated, and small quantities of wax or hard paraffin may be added to accelerate the process of solidifica.tion. |
