description 1,143,901. Cathode-ray tubes. MOTOROLA Inc. 7 March, 1967 [9 March, 1966; 19 Jan., 1967], No. 10679/67. Heading H1D. [Also in Division E2] A deflection yoke is mounted on the neck of a cathode-ray tube by a support frame which slidably and rotatably receives the yoke, and which includes a plurality of fingers extending at angle equal to the taper of the cone of the tube and mounted thereto by a cushioned adhesive material secured to the fingers, and a clamping device, whereby rotation and sliding of the yoke with respect to the frame may be prevented. The annular portion 16 of the yoke 12 of a shadow mask colour tube 10 is received within the ring 14, which is secured to the cone 15 by spongy double-sided adhesive tape 26 on the under-surface of the fingers 18. The yoke is then rotated and moved axially within the ring 14 to provide the desired location of the centre of deflection, whereafter the ring is tightened by clamp 35 positioned at a break in the ring, to maintain the yoke in position, and the yoke clamp 48 is also tightened. Several forms of clamp for tightening the ring are described (see Division E2). In a modified arrangement (Figs. 5 to 10, not shown), the fingers are shortened and bifurcated, and inwardly directed protuberances are formed in the ring 14 to limit the range of axial movement of the yoke therein before the ring is finally tightened.
