Powder-containing preparations for application to the human skin

[Also in Division C3] A powder-containing preparation for application to the human skin is claimed in which 5-95% by wt. of the powder particles are spherical polymer beads of average diameter 1-100Á. The polymer may be a copolymer of styrene and divinyl benzene with optionally hydroxy-ethyl acrylate, and the beads may be porous with a pore size of 300-10,000 Š. In examples the polymer beads were compounded with (1) magnesium stearate, (2) rice starch, ZnO and zinc stearate, and (3) as (2) using chalk in place of starch-to form a face powder; (4) boric acid, (5) as (4) with corn starch also-to form baby powders; (6) glycerol monostearate, glycerine and water-to form a powder cream; and (7) kaolin corn starch, boric acid, mixed t-butyl m- and pcresols and hexachlorophene-to form a fungicidal foot powder.
