In each element 2, Fig. 1, material drafted at 22 is spun into yarn in a chamber 2 where an air-vortex is created. Loose fibres arising from a break in the yarn pass through the tube 1 to the main, and are drawn into the collector by the fan. When, through overfilling of the collector, the pressure rises at the exit end of the main, an adjustably spring- loaded flap valve, Fig. 4, not shown, is opened; when, through fibres clogging one of more of the tubes 1, a fall in pressure occurs at the inlet end, it opens a valve, comprising a venturi with an adjustably spring-loaded cone 13, Fig. 3, not shown. In each chamber, the working pressure is pre-set to a valve indicated by a manometer 19 by adjusting the resilient wall of a pitot-tube 17 in the tube 1. A throttle-disc 18 is also provided in each tube. |
