Coated welding electrode

A coating composition for a welding electrode comprises 0 - 35% Fe 1 - 3% Si 4 - 9% Mn 1.5 - 4% Cr 0.8 - 2% Mo 3.5 - 7% Ni 0 - 2% Cn 0 - 0.1% V 0 - 1.5% Ti and fluxing ingredients including a binder. The fluxing ingredients may be .5 - 12%.sodium and/or potassium silicate .0 - 8%.other compounds of potassium, e.g ..titanate, carbonate or feldspar .30 - 60%.calcium compounds, e.g., carbonate ..fluorspar .0 - 2%.organics, e.g., hydroxy ethyl cel ..lulose or sodium carboxymethyl ..cellulose gum .0 - 10%.titanium dioxide .0 - 12%.insoluble silicates, e.g., sand, clay, ..kyanite The core is mild steel containing 0.02% max. P and 0.2% max. S The coating constitutes 26 - 42% of the electrode.
