A roller bearing including a cage, has inner and outer races split into approximately semicircular parts, respective rings parts 15 ... 18 being secured together by screws 36 ... 39 so that each ring is clamped into a groove 26, 27 in the outer surface of the inner race adjacent respective ends of the race with the axially inner and outer surfaces of the inner peripheral part of each ring engaging the walls of the groove, abutment parts 30, 31 on the respective rings extending axially inwardly through the cage to abut the rollers, each clamping ring having its greatest axial width at its inner periphery. The outer race has a groove 34 to locate the rollers. Split 24 in the inner race is at an angle to the bearing axis and split 40 in the outer race of V-shape. At least the surfaces of the steel rings abutting the rollers are hardened. |
