A fuel pump (1) for a direct-injection system and having: a main body (2); a pumping chamber (4) obtained in the main body (2); a delivery channel (6) connected to the pumping chamber (4); a delivery valve (8); and a pressure relief valve (9). The delivery valve (8) and the pressure relief valve (9) are both arranged coaxial with each other in the delivery channel (6) and are integrated together to form a single valve assembly (7). The valve assembly (7) has a cylindrical valve disc (14) which engages the delivery channel (6) and has at least one through delivery hole (18) which is part of the delivery valve (8) and a through relief hole (20) which is part of the pressure relief valve (9). A shutter of the delivery valve (8) consists of a flexible foil (22) which is fixed to the valve disc (14) next to the delivery hole (18), and the flexible foil (22) is pre deformed so that in the absence of external stresses it squeezes against a valve seat (19) of the delivery hole (18) with a non-zero pre-load force. |
