La présente invention concerne un procédé de gestion de la montée en puissance disponible d'une pile à combustible insérée dans un circuit d'alimentation en énergie électrique d'au moins un consommateur d'un véhicule automobile, notamment d'un moteur électrique de propulsion dudit véhicule, la pile à combustible comportant au moins deux éléments de pile branchés en parallèle et aptes à être connectés sélectivement au circuit d'alimentation électrique. Ce procédé est remarquable en ce que, successivement pour chacun d'une pluralité d'éléments de pile déconnectés électriquement du circuit, on procède selon les étapes suivantes : a) ajustement de la température de l'élément de pile déconnecté dans une plage de températures de fonctionnement optimal de cet élément de pile; b) connexion électrique au circuit (7) de l'élément de pile.
