The system uses a database (6) holding information about each appliance using gas, to enable accurate determination of storage requirements. The system provides a method whereby several installations are supplied with gas in either a laboratory or a factory. A database (6) is held containing information for each item of equipment indicating the flow rate of gas required, the nature of the gas, the purity of the gas and the supply pressure of the gas. For each installation a value, or a limit value is stored indicating the duration or the frequency of use. A calculation is carried out to determine the consumption or the consumption limit as a function of the utilization value and the flow data. For each gas and each purity of gas the sum of the consumption by each installation is determined. Technical constraints are determined, and by reference to the database (5) the various technical factors relating to the consumption and storage of gas are determined. |
