description The invention relates to devices enabling acoustic waves to be absorbed. It consists of a device comprising a viscoelastic layer (101) surmounted by a set of substantially adjoining punches (101). The acoustic waves are received on the plane surface of the punches and cause, via their projecting rounded surface, the excitation of the viscoelastic layer, where they are dissipated by reason of losses due to the glassy state/elastic state transition. Under the effect of the pressure due to the inversion the punches sink more and more deeply in and the area of contact with the layer increases, thus limiting the sinking-in of these punches and hence the risks of destruction of the device. It allows absorption of low frequencies to be obtained over a wide band at the cost of some sacrifice in the anechoism factor.
