The collet has a shank (10), in which there are cooling passages (13), and is fitted into a metallic tube (11), to the threaded end of which means are attached in each case for regulating the clamping force of the spring element (9) of the collet and for the adjusting movement of the electrode unit along the torch axis, the said means being partly led out onto the surface of the outer housing (1) via grooves (18 and 19) in the latter.
