Aluminium wire prodn. from continuously cast strand - using high cooling rate to modify sec. phases (HU 30.8.82)

In the prodn. of aluminium wire by melting aluminium contg. max. 0.7% impurities, continuously casting the melt, naturally cooling the cast strand at about 100 K/sec. and then working to wire, the cast strand is cooled at a rate of at least 2.5 times the natural cooling rate (pref. at at least 1000...

The compsn. of the sec. solid phase (eutectic of impurities with aluminium) is offset in the direction of the metastable eutectic (the supersaturated soln.) to avoid redn. in mechanical properties, without affecting the desired crystalline structure of the aluminium matrix which solidifies first. The resulting wire has unchanged electrical properties but has increased bending fatigue resistance, after heat treatment, similar to that of copper wire. L'INVENTION CONCERNE UN PROCEDE DE FABRICATION DE FILS D'ALUMINIUM, DANS LEQUEL ON FOND DE L'ALUMINIUM DE PREMIERE FUSION CONTENANT AU PLUS 0,7 D'IMPURETE, ON LE COULE EN CONTINU ET APRES SOLIDIFICATION DE L'ALUMINIUM AU MOYEN D'UN REFROIDISSEMENT NATUREL PRESENTANT UNE VITESSE DE REFROIDISSEMENT D'ENVIRON 10 KS ON FABRIQUE LE FIL PAR LAMINAGE OU COMPRESSION PUIS PAR TRAITEMENT A FROID, CARACTERISE EN CE QU'ON MET L'ALUMINIUM DE PREMIERE FUSION PENDANT LA SOLIDIFICATION, A LA FIN DU PREMIER PROCESSUS EXOTHERMIQUE, EN CONTACT AVEC UN AGENT REFRIGERANT LIQUIDE OU SOLIDE D'UNE CAPACITE CALORIFIQUE TELLE QUE LA VITESSE DE REFROIDISSEMENT SOIT AU MOINS DEUX FOIS ET DEMIE PLUS GRANDE QUE CELLE DES PROCESSUS DE SOLIDIFICATION QUI SE DEROULENT SPONTANEMENT DANS LES CONDITIONS DONNEES.
