La présente invention se rapporte à la technologie du traitement préalable des cocons de ver à soie Suivant l'invention le processus de séchage s'effectue en plusieurs cycles dont chacun comprend un chaffage des cocons suivi de leur refroidissement, les deux opérations étant réalisées à l'aide d'un porteur de chaleur, la teneur en humidité du porteur de chaleur refroidi allant de 15 à 30 grammes par kilogramme d'air sec, la durée de chaque cycle étant de 10 à 30 minutes et le rapport entre le temps de chauffage et celui de refroidissement variant de 4/1 à 1/1.
