description 1,061,478. Centrifugal separators. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. June 24, 1964, No. 26171/64. Heading B2P. [Also in Divisions F1 and F2] A lubrication system for a gas turbine engine (see Division F1) includes a centrifuge 32, Fig. 1, which separates air from the lubricant. The lubricant and air mixture is delivered to the centrifuge through a hollow shaft 30 driven by the turbine and driving the hollow shaft 74 of the centrifuge. Partial separation occurs in the shaft 30 and the denser fluid passes into the centrifuge through an inlet 78, whereas the less dense fluid at the centre of the stream passes into the centrifuge through an inlet 79. The centrifuge comprises a number of coaxial drums 80 fitted into one another. The separated lubricant is delivered to a storage tank (not shown) through an outlet pipe 67. The separated air 48' passes through a radial bore 81, Fig. 4, and a number of transverse bores 83 into the hollow shaft 74 and out through an outlet 84.
