The invention relates to an aerator-agitator, preferably for intensifying composting by conducting air, water, chemicals or the like to or from the composted material by means of agitating the material. The aerator-agitator comprises an aerator tube 1 and an agitating member 2 around the aerator tube 1, which tube and member are arranged with punched holes 3a, 3b for conducting air, water, chemicals or the like through the aerator-agitator to, or out of, the composted material. The agitating member 2 is arranged to move around the aerator tube 1 with the aim of loosening up the composted material. The agitating member 2 is detachable, which means that the aerator-agitator can also function solely as an aerator. A measuring detector 8 or the like is located inside the aerator tube 1 for the purpose of measuring the temperature, the moistness or the pH, or similar values of the composted material for the purpose of regulating the function of the aerator-agitator in a controlled manner. The aerator-agitator is arranged to function and agitate while supported by conduit arrangements 6 or similar constructions or to function and agitate separately from the said constructions.
