Zusammenfassung:	When carrying out oblique cutting of a paper web, the lead strip in the web W is cut from the paper web and is made wider because the cutting device moves in the web's transverse direction at the web's free run, e.g. in a multi-cylinder drier. In conjunction with the cutter blade 1, there is a stabilising device 2 which incorporates suction to effect a gas-medium flow A which is directed from the web W to the device 2. The flow is designed to stabilise the run of the web at the cutting point C. The device 2 is arranged to connect with the flow - line 32 via an ejector 4 which brings about the suction, whereby the ejector is connected to the same pressure-medium source as an air motor 13 - lines 30a, 30b -which turns the cutter blade.
