Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method and to an apparatus for producing hydrogen, wherein a first feedstock (3, 3') containing ammonia is fed to a first fission reactor (R1) heated by means of an imported energy carrier (13) in order to split ammonia into hydrogen and nitrogen with catalytic assistance and to obtain a hot first fission gas (6, 6') containing hydrogen and nitrogen. According to the invention, a second feedstock (4, 2) containing ammonia is reacted in a second fission reactor (R2) to produce a second fission gas (7, 3') containing hydrogen and nitrogen, the hot first fission gas (6, 6') being used to heat the second fission reactor (R2) and in so doing being cooled.
