METHOD AND DEVICE FOR OPERATING A WINDING MACHINE

The invention relates to a method and a device for operating a winding machine having a plurality of work stations in which cop yarns are rewound into cross-wound bobbins of large volume, the work stations being divided into different winding sections in order to be able to process a plurality of different yarn batches at the same time, the cop yarns being identified by the color of the bobbin sleeve according to the yarn batches. According to the invention, the conveying plate of the arrived cop is read, the conveying plate is provided with a storage medium containing information, and the color of the bobbin sleeve of the cop on the conveying plate must be deduced from the storage medium; generating a picture by means of a camera with an image processing device, wherein the picture shows the bobbin sleeve of the cop carried on the transport plate and a plurality of reference sleeves; and the image processing device checks whether the color of the bobbin sleeve of the cop carried on the transport plate corresponds to the color information stored on the transport plate and whether the color of the delivered bobbin sleeve matches the color of one of the reference sleeves remaining ready.
