Zusammenfassung:	An air turbine starter (10) that includes a housing (30). The housing (30) can circumscribe a turbine (54) that is coupled to a gear train (80) in a gear box (82) via a drive shaft (72). A primary air flow path (36) is defined between a primary inlet (32) and a primary outlet (34). Air in the primary air flow path (36) can flow into a secondary air flow path (56) or rotate the turbine (54), that converts energy from the air flow to rotational mechanical energy. Air in the secondary air flow path (56) can pass through at least a first cavity (74) and first passage (100) before rejoining the primary air flow (36) or joining ambient air.
