Zusammenfassung:	A method for identifying a constellation of one or more mechanical forces and/or physical/chemical states acting on a surface of an object, wherein sensors are assigned in each case to discrete surface regions and a constellation of mechanical forces and/or states acting on the surface is detected by the sensors, communicated in the form of corresponding signals to a control device and processed there with the aid of the computing unit and corresponding algorithms such that the signals of such a constellation are stored as a reference pattern, wherein current subsequent constellations, which are likewise determined according to predefined algorithms, are in each case compared with one or more previous reference patterns and, in the event of a predefined similarity determined by the computing unit, predefined signals or manipulated variables are generated and output for, in particular, actuation devices, actuating or signal elements or further computation or authentication operations. Furthermore, a decorative covering material for a vehicle seat is disclosed, in which sensor and/or signal elements for carrying out the method are formed.
