Zusammenfassung: | The present invention relates to a biomimetic system for the controlled release of essential oil components (EOCs) encapsulated in mesoporous silica nanoparticles, inspired by the natural plant-defence mechanisms and determined the antifungal activity of such systems. Delivery and antifungal studies in the presence of Aspergillus niger have been carried out with mesoporous silica materials loaded with EOCs and capped with different saccharide gates - starch, maltodextrin, maltose and glucose. Sugar-capped systems show very low EOCs release in the absence of fungi, but displayed high cargo delivery in its presence. The anchored sugars were degraded by exogenous-enzymes from the fungi Aspergillus niger and the consequent release of the antifungal agent efficiently inhibited fungal growth. This invention shows an enzyme-induced antimicrobial delivery system using capped silica mesoporous nanoparticles. |
