Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:	A disc brake (1), a wear adjuster for a disc brake (1) and a method for operating a disc brake (1) are provided. The wear adjuster includes a pawl (220) biased by a spring (225) against, and actuated by, a rotary lever (210), a shaft (130) with a ratchet wheel (135) arranged to be rotated by the pawl (220) when the rotary lever (210) rotates in a brake release direction, and a tappet wheel (125) threaded on a brake application tappet (120) supported on a movable bridge (110) in the disc brake caliper. During brake release the pawl (220) rotates the ratchet wheel (135) and the shaft (130). The shaft (130) and the tappet wheel (125) have gearing which rotates the tappet wheel (125) with the shaft (130). Due to the threaded engagement of the tappet wheel (125) and the non-rotating tappet (120), the rotating tappet wheel (125) causes the tappet (120) to advance relative to the bridge (110) to compensate for brake pad wear.
