Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a continuous metal strip (2) and to a coil coating process for multi-layer coating of said continuous metal strip (2), wherein a curable polymeric primer (7) is applied to a flat face (6) of the metal strip (2) by means of a roller application in order to form a primer layer (7.1), and a curable polymer lacquer (8) is applied to said primer layer (7.1) by means of a roller application in order to form a top coat layer (8.1), and said primer layer (7.1) and top coat layer (8.1) are hardened. In order to enable an electrochromic functionalization reproducibly, according to the invention, at least one electrochromic element (13, 21) is applied between the primer layer (7.1) and the top coat layer (8.1), involving the method steps of pressing an electrochromic polymer (14), which is in particular electrically conductive, in order to form an electrochromic layer (14.1) and/or an ion storage layer (14.2), and providing a solid polymer electrolyte (15) for forming an electrolyte layer (15.1), wherein the electrolyte layer (15.1) and the electrochromic layer (14.1) or the ion storage layer (14.2) are applied wet-on-wet.
