Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a push to connect fitting, comprising: a body member (12, 72, 128,204) adapted to receive a conduit end, a conduit (C) comprising a first end (C1) that can be axially inserted into said body member and a conduit gripping device (40) pre-swaged into radial compression against a cylindrical exterior surface of said conduit (C) for an interference fit attachment of the conduit gripping device to the conduit, and a retainer (38) that engages said pre-swaged conduit gripping device to retain said conduit (C) in place when said conduit (C) is fully inserted into said body member to form an unthreaded mechanical connection between the conduit and the fitting body.
