METHOD FOR GENERATING CARBON-BASED SECONDARY ENERGY CARRIERS OR BASIC CHEMICAL PRODUCTS
The invention relates to a method for generating C-based secondary energy carriers or basic chemical products (8) by coupling an oxy-fuel combustion (1) of C-based fuels (11) and a high-temperature solid electrolyte electrolysis (HT-SOEL) (2, 2A, 2K), wherein oxygen (3) generated from the HT-SOEL is...

description | The invention relates to a method for generating C-based secondary energy carriers or basic chemical products (8) by coupling an oxy-fuel combustion (1) of C-based fuels (11) and a high-temperature solid electrolyte electrolysis (HT-SOEL) (2, 2A, 2K), wherein oxygen (3) generated from the HT-SOEL is used as the oxidizing agent for the oxy-fuel combustion, and the product gases (4, 4', 5, 5') obtained from the oxy-fuel combustion and/or from the cathode chamber (2K) of the HT-SOEL and optionally hydrogen (16) which is additionally externally supplied are converted into C-based secondary energy carriers or basic chemical products (8) exothermically in a known manner. In the method, heat at different temperature levels is coupled out in such a manner that the exhaust heat I (6) from the exothermic synthesis (7) of C-based secondary energy carriers or basic chemical products (8) is used to generate steam for the HT-SOEL (2, 2A, 2K); the exhaust heat II inherent to the product gases (4, 5, 5') of the HT-SOEL is used to pre-heat the steam (9) supplied to the HT-SOEL; and the exhaust heat III (10) obtained from the oxy-fuel combustion is supplied to the HT-SOEL (2, 2A, 2K). The HT-SOEL is driven during the endothermic operation in that the operating point for the cell voltage applied to each electrolysis cell lies between the electric energy requirement deltaG and the total energy requirement deltaH, and the missing energy requirement of the HT-SOEL is covered by the exhaust heat III (10) during the endothermic operation. According to the invention, the high-temperature electrolysis can be carried out using a reduced electric energy requirement such that it is possible to increase the total efficiency of the conversion method. |
