Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a method for operating a motor vehicle (1, 8) with an optical sensor which is aligned to the front of the motor vehicle (1, 8), and a motor vehicle-to-motor vehicle communication device (4). The brightness or detectability of the brake lights (9) of a directly preceding vehicle (8) is determined from the image data of the optical sensor and is evaluated with respect to communication information which is to be emitted and/or received by means of the communication device (4).
