Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a method for producing sub-solar modules using electrically insulating insulation trenches in a thin-layer solar module made of monolithically interconnected thin-layer solar cells, having the following steps: - providing a laser with a laser wavelength, - providing a substrate (1) which is transparent for the laser wavelength, the first side of the substrate (1) having a plurality of monolithically connected thin-layer solar cells consisting of a metal rear electrode thin layer (2), an absorber thin layer (3) arranged on the metal rear electrode thin layer (2), and a front electrode structure (4) arranged on the absorber thin layer, - emitting a laser beam (L) onto the substrate, and - moving the laser beam (L) over the substrate (1) in order to produce at least one insulation trench (11, 12, 13, 14). According to the invention, the laser beam (1) is emitted onto the second side of the substrate (1) and is incident on the metal rear electrode thin layer (2) through the substrate (1), and laser pulses of the laser beam are adjusted in the pico- or femtosecond range such that the metal rear electrode thin layer (2) together with the absorber thin layer (3) arranged on the rear electrode thin layer and the front electrode structure (4) arranged on the absorber thin layer are detached from the substrate (1) along the cutting line (S).
