description The light-scattering bulb (1) is provided for a semiconductor retrofit lamp (R1), said bulb (1) having a basic hollow cylindrical shape. The bulb (1) has a main part (2) made of glass, and the main part (2) is coated with a light-scattering layer (4). The light-scattering layer (4) has scattering particles (P1, P2) distributed in a translucent base material. The base material is an inorganic lead-free base material (G), and the scattering particles (P1, P2) are inorganic scattering particles. A method is used to produce a bulb (1), said method having at least the following steps: coating the main part (2) made of glass with a coating agent, which is a starting material for producing the light-scattering layer (4) of the bulb (1); and drying some sections of the coating agent and baking the layer so as to convert same into the light-scattering layer (4), said drying process being carried out in a staggered manner in the flow direction of the coating agent. The invention can be used in particular for semiconductor retrofit lamps for gas discharge tubes and linear lamps.
