Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simultaneously performing data transmission and distance measurement between a first device and a second device.SOLUTION: A first device 14 and a second device 22 comprise: transmission devices 16, 24 for optical data transmission; reception devices 18, 26 for optical data reception; and control units connected with the transmission devices and the reception devices, respectively. Each control unit has a prescribed internal clock. A first data signal is transmitted from the first device 14 to the second device 22, a second data signal is transmitted from the second device 22 to the first device 14, and on the basis of the transmitted data signals, distance between the first device and the second device is calculated. At that time, temporal change in an edge of one data signal of the data signals relative to the internal clock at each case is measured multiple times.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
