The display device includes a thin film transistor (TFT) including a gate connected to a gate line, a drain connected to a data line, and a source connected to a pixel electrode and a passivation layer pattern formed in an opening excluding the (TFT) from a pixel area. The pixel electrode directly contacts the source of the (TFT) on the gate of the (TFT) or the gate line.
