Zusammenfassung:	A release device for releasing a medical implant from an insertion device, in which the implant can be released by a relative movement between a first and a second insertion element, wherein the insertion device has a proximal end, which faces the user during use, and a distal end, which is distanced from the user during use. Between the proximal and the distal end, a shortening region is provided, in which, when generating a targeted relative movement between the first and the second insertion element of the insertion device, a length of at least one of the insertion elements between the proximal end and the distal end can be shortened.
