Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a self-propelled and self-steering floor cleaning device (10) comprising a housing (20) and a cleaning tool in the form of a cleaning brush (36) having cleaning bristles (63), wherein the housing (20) forms a brush receiving space (40) in which the cleaning brush (36) is received in such as manner as to be rotationally drivable about a rotary axis (39) oriented in relation to a longitudinal or main movement direction (22) of the floor cleaning device (10) in the transverse direction (38) of the floor cleaning device (10), and wherein the housing (20) includes or forms brush covers (50, 51) which cover at least regions of the cleaning brush (36) on the end face. In order to provide a floor cleaning device of this type, with which improved cleaning results can be achieved, according to the invention at least one brush cover (50, 51) is formed so that it can move relative to the housing (20) and can be transferred from a bristle covering position, in which the brush cover (50, 51) laterally protrudes over cleaning bristles (63) of the cleaning brush (36) in the transverse direction (38) of the floor cleaning device (10), to a bristle exposing position, in which some of the cleaning bristles (63) laterally protrude over the brush cover (50, 51) in the transverse direction (38) of the floor cleaning device (10), and vice versa. The invention also relates to a method for controlling the movement of a floor cleaning device of this type.
