Vehicle floor cover retention device

An adapter (100) for limiting the lateral movement of a vehicle floor cover (120) relative to a vehicle foot well equipped with at least one original equipment manufacturer (OEM) retention post (124) upstanding from the vehicle foot well, the post having a shaft of a first diameter and a head of a second diameter larger than the first diameter, the adapter comprising a body (102) disposed around the retention post and an engagement ridge forming a passageway dimensioned to receive the shaft of the post for holding the head of the post. The body is provided in at least first and second pieces wherein the first piece is securely attachable to the second piece, the first and second pieces each forming a portion of the engagement ridge, such that when the pieces are closed on each other around the retention post, a cavity of the body will enclose the head of the retention post.
