Display of aircraft attitude

A method for displaying an attitude of an aircraft (20) comprises the steps of: receiving a roll angle, a pitch angle and a yaw angle of the aircraft (20); generating a display image (14) indicating the roll angle, the pitch angle and the yaw angle; and displaying the display image (14) on a display device (12). The display image (14) comprises a spherical shell (30) with a track angle scale (44) projected onto the spherical shell (30) along a latitude line (42) of the spherical shell (30) and with a pitch angle scale (46) projected onto the spherical shell (30) along a longitude line (36) of the spherical shell. Furthermore, the display image (14) comprises a graphical aircraft attitude indicator (48) inside the spherical shell (30) rotated with respect to the spherical shell (30) such that the graphical aircraft attitude indicator (48) indicates the roll angle, the pitch angle and the yaw angle of the aircraft (20) with respect to the spherical shell (30).
