Zusammenfassung:The subject matter disclosed herein relates to X-ray imaging systems, and more specifically to digital X-ray imaging systems. In one embodiment, an imaging system (10, 60) includes an X-ray source (12) configured to emit X-rays (16, 20). The imaging system (10, 60) also includes an X-ray detector (22) configured to detect the emitted X-rays (16, 20) and produce a corresponding electrical signal. The imaging system (10, 60) also includes a gantry (64) configured to at least partially revolve (82) the X-ray source (12) and the X-ray detector (22) about a primary rotational axis (88). The X-ray detector (22) is coupled to the gantry (64) so that a diagonal (104, 124) of the X-ray detector (22) is oriented substantially perpendicular to the primary rotational axis (88).
