An panic or emergency exit mechanism (134) in which a push bar (108) can be rotated in a first direction (U) to unlatch a primary latch bolt, and a secondary latch bolt, and can be rotated in a second direction (L) to selectively engage a secondary latch bolt to supplement primary latching.
