Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a covering, cladding or the like for buildings or parts of buildings, comprising planar components (1) which can be connected via a tongue and groove connection (2) while avoiding open butt joints. To allow three-dimensionally curved surfaces and easier fastening of the components, each component (1) can be clamped together with an adjacent component (1) in the region of the tongue and groove connection (2), wherein each component (1) has, in the region of connection to the adjacent component (1), a holding rib (5) or the like which projects from the side opposed to the outer surface and beyond the connecting element and by means of which the components (1) can be fastened to a substructure (6).
