Zusammenfassung:	An optical reading device for scanning bar codes on an object within a scanning area, the device comprising:a pick head (160) for moving the object (360) along a translation axis within the scanning area;a bar code reader (362) disposed at a fixed position within the scanning area, the bar code reader (362) projecting a reading beam (370) toward the translation axis; anda plurality of mirrors (351-353) attached to the pick head (160) that move with the object (360) along the translation axis, each mirror (351-353) being disposed at a different angle and a different location relative to the object (360) to reflect the reading beam (370) at one of a plurality of different positions along the translation axis so that when each mirror (351-353) intersects the reading beam (370), the plurality of mirrors (351-353) reflects the reading beam (370) so that all sides of the object (360) are viewed such that at least one of the positions will produce a signal corresponding to the bar code.
