Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a camshaft (1) and a method for the production thereof. Said camshaft comprises a pipe (2) from which at least one cam (3) is formed. The cam (3) is provided with a wear-resistant layer (4). In order to ensure operational reliability of the camshaft (1) while keeping the same light, the pipe (2) is made of a steel material while the wear-resistant layer (4) is formed by an impact-insensitive material. An arc wire spraying process or hybrid arc wire spraying process is used for applying the wear-resistant layer (4).
