Zusammenfassung:	The guard (13) for preventing the chain (2) or belt jumping off is provided on an adjacent chain (10) or belt or on a guide or tensioning part (12) for an adjacent chain or belt. An independent claim is also included for a tensioning or guide part for integration into a traction drive mechanism, especially a chain or belt drive, which has at least one chain or belt jump guard protruding from one side for a chain or belt adjacent to the one being tensioned or guided by this part. The part has a single-piece construction and is made from metal or plastic, or alternatively the jump guard and part are formed by separate pieces. The jump guard is formed by a laterally protruding plate (14) or ledge.
